San Francisco Community

Lotus mural by San Francisco artist fnnch

“The idea for the Lotus was suggested by one of the residents of the building. The lotus flower is famous for starting in muddy water and yet emerging beautiful. This is a hopeful metaphor for the neighborhood and city if I’ve ever heard one. It is also intended to honor Little Saigon, which is nearby.” ~fnnch

The Lotus mural was done in collaboration with Conard House, San Francisco Parks Department, and other local organizations.

fnnch creates street art and murals using multi-layered stencils and spray paint. He calls his work “contemporary pop art”, depicting objects from both nature and everyday life.

Nob Hill Gazette Feature Story

In the last two years, Conard House has piloted an on-site food kiosk to combat food insecurity with fresh meals, food and vouchers, and a pet support program so that 80 companion animals can bring comfort to clients who are then assisted with access to pet supplies, pet food, training and veterinary care. A big focus has also been put on advancing the work of its Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee; expanding digital access and literacy for residents; and enhancing its money management program, designed to help residents and clients budget monthly expenses and navigate Social Security or disability benefits.

Thank you to the Nob Hill Gazette for giving Conard House an opportunity for us to share more about

our work in San Francisco.
